about the contest
The International ‘Ukulele Contest is the only ‘ukulele competition in Hawai‘i where amateur musicians from all over the world come together to compete. The event’s goal is to encourage, educate and develop skills among musicians, especially youth. The hula show following to the Contest is an opportunity to further the exchange and friendship between Japan and Hawai‘i featuring performances by hula students from Japan and professional dancers in Hawai‘i.

コンテストについて
インターナショナル・ウクレレ・コンテストは、世界各国から集まったアマチュアミュージシャンが競い合う、ハワイで唯一のウクレレコンテストです。この大会の目的は、音楽家、特に若者を奨励し、育成し、技術を向上させることです。毎年ハワイのホノルルで開催しています。なお、2021年と2022年はオンラインで開催。
また、コンテストの後に行われるフラショーは、日本のフラダンス教室生とハワイのプロダンサーが共演し、日本とハワイの交流と友好を深める機会となっています。
