Message from the founder

The 2024 Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii is returning as a physical event in July, 2024. And we are also pleased to announce that the 12th Annual International Ukulele Contest final round will be also returning to Honolulu with the qualifier round to be held online earlier.

Although the various restrictions related to COVID have been removed, the environment surrounding children has never been better. Children are under more stress than we think. Not only do I hope that ukulele can heal children's hearts and minds, but I also believe that ukulele can bring children hope. Participating in our ukulele contest will give them a chance to make their own goals, to have dreams to achieve them, and to work hard to achieve their dreams.

It takes a lot of courage to have people watch and evaluate your performance. However, taking a step forward with courage will make your life more positive afterwards. I hope that you will spend this period of your life in a fulfilling way.

I also encourage experienced ukulele players to participate in this event and try out their skills in front of their ukulele friends from all over the world. It will be a great opportunity to share the joy of playing the ukulele with many people. We hope to see many of you at the 12th Annual event!

2024年のウクレレピクニック・イン・ハワイは7月にハワイに於いてリアル開催を予定しておりますが、第12回インターナショナル・ウクレレコンテスト予選をオンラインで一足早く開催することになりました。

コロナ禍の様々な制限が無くなりましたが、子どもたちを取り巻く環境は決して良くなっているとはいえません。子どもたちは大人が考える以上にストレスを抱えていると思います。ウクレレが子どもたちの心を癒してくれることを願うだけでなく、さらに、ウクレレが子どもたちにチャンスを与えることもできるのではないかと思っています。コンテストに参加することによって自分で目標を作る、それに向かって夢を持つ、夢に向かって努力する、それができるチャンスとなるのです。

人に自分の演奏を観てもらうこと、そして評価してもらうということはとても勇気が必要だと思います。しかし、勇気を持って一歩踏み出すことはその後の人生をポジティブにしてくれるはずです。この期間をぜひ充実した時間として過ごしてほしいと思います。

もちろんウクレレを弾きなれた大人の方々には世界のウクレレ仲間を前に自分の腕前を試してみることをお勧めします。あらためてウクレレの素晴らしさと楽しさをたくさんの人たちと分かち合うことができることでしょう。たくさんの方々の参加を期待しています。
