11th Annual 2022 Contest Entry Form

Please read the guidelines carefully, record your Youtube video according to the rules and submit your entry from the form below.

GENERAL RULES

ELIGIBILITY:

• Open to amateur ‘ukulele players over the age of three as of January 1, 2022.
• Players must be amateur ‘ukulele players ONLY. No professional musicians (including semi-professional) and/or performers signed to a management company are allowed to enter the contest.

ENTRY FEE:
Solo/Group Entry:
FREE ENTRY
We have decided to waive this year's entry fees in support for humanitarian efforts and world peace in Eastern Europe.

DIVISIONS:

1. Solo: Keiki & Teens (ages 3 – 18)
2. Solo: Open (ages 19 and over)
3. Solo: Vocal (ages 3 and over)
4. Group: Open to groups of two or more

*Your entry age must be the age as of January 1, 2022

*Important Notes

• Parental consent is required for the contestants under the age of thirteen (13).
• For Group entry, everyone in the group must play ‘ukulele or your entry will be disqualified. Other instruments are not permitted.
• Multiple entries in different categories are not allowed. One entry, one category.
• Same person is not allowed to perform in multiple groups. One person, one category, one group.

ENTRY SONG QUALIFICATION & VIDEO RULES:

• Your entry must qualify each category rule (age and composition).
• Past MVP winner, Grand Champion title winner and 1st place winner of each category are not eligible to enter the contest. Past 1st place winners must enter a different category to be eligible.
• Your entry video upload must be available for one year.
• 4-string or 4-course ukulele must be the leading instrument in its performance or group formation. Use of other instruments, such as guitar, are not allowed.
• All songs must be no more than four (4) minutes in length.
• Video must be UNEDITED, and submitted in full length.
• No electrical effects, including but not limited to equalizer, reverb, distortion, are allowed. Non-EQ Direct Boxes are only accepted.
• Remote performance using online conference tools such as ZOOM are not allowed. Group members must meet face-to-face, maintain social distancing while recording the performance.
• Competitors are free to select the song of their choice: cover or original, instrumental or with vocals.
• Please make sure to add hashtag #internationalukulelecontest in the title or description area of your YouTube video. This help viewers and our judges find your videos more easily through search.
• For Group entry, everyone in the group must play ‘ukulele or your entry will be disqualified.
• WINNERS WILL BE DETERMINED BASED ON THE VIDEO ENTRY.

HOW TO ENTER:
Submit your entry from the form below with a YouTube video link to the performance of the entry song by Friday May 13th, 2022, 5pm (Hawaii Time).
Notes:

• We may close all applications before entry deadline should the number of entries significantly exceeds expectations.

WINNERS:
Winners from each division will be selected and announced on livestream broadcast on Saturday, May 28th, 2022, 6pm-8pm (Hawaii Time) from Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani, through the Ukulele Contest livestream on Ukulele Picnic Official YouTube Channel. Winners’ YouTube videos will displayed on the official contest website.

 

AWARDS & PRIZES

Finalist Prizes (Category Prizes) - 1st place for each division will receive a premium ‘ukulele from Kanileʻa ʻUkulele. 2nd and 3rd place for each division will also receive a prize.

MVP (Most Valuable Player) - Hotel Voucher of three nights stay at Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani and the opportunity to perform on stage at the next Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii.

KZOO Radio Prize - The opportunity to have your original song broadcasted on KZOO Radio for 12 months starting in May 2022.

Special Jury Award - Given to only one (1) contestant from among all qualified finalists for his/her use and mastery of Hawaiian mele (song) in Hawaiian language during performances.

Best Vocal Prize – Along with ukulele performance, we will judge your vocal ability. No age limitation. Special prize will be given to his/her/group’s performance.

Special Gift for Keiki:
First 50 keiki entries (3 ~ 11 years old), except GROUP category, will receive a “Piku-lele” by Kiwaya Shoten, sponsored by Keiki Ukulele of Japan.

Entry Gift for Everyone:
Everyone who entered the contest will receive a commemorative sticker (tentative).

3. Next, enter your details in the following form to complete your entry. Entry is free of charge.
4. Winners will be announced live via web streaming on May 28th, 2022, 6pm-8pm (Hawaii Time).

参加規程

参加資格

• 2022年1月1日の時点で満3歳以上になるウクレレ愛好者
• 商業的音楽活動をしていないこと、プロダクションに所属していないこと。(アマチュアのみのエントリー)

ソロ/団体の部：
本年度は特別に無料
より多くのウクレレプレイヤーが本コンテストに参加し、ウクレレの音色を世界に発信することが、世界の平和につながると信じ、本年度は特別にエントリー費を無料にします。

部門

1. ソロ部門／KEIKI & TEENS (3歳以上～19歳未満(満18歳まで))
2. ソロ部門／OPEN (19歳以上～)
3. ソロボーカル部門／SOLO VOCALS (3歳以上～)
4. グループ部門 (2名以上のウクレレグループ演奏)

※エントリー年齢は2022年1月1日の時点の年齢となります。
 
※注意事項

• 13歳未満の出場者は保護者の同意が必要です
• グループ部門の条件は、参加者全員がウクレレを演奏していることに限ります
• 同一人物がソロおよびグループに重複してエントリーすることはできない
• 同一人物が複数グループに重複してエントリーすることはできない

演目と動画規定

• 各カテゴリーの対象であること
• 当コンテストで過去に各カテゴリーで1位を受賞していないこと。なお、カテゴリーで1位を受賞した方が別のカテゴリーにエントリーする場合は可能です(1位を受賞したカテゴリーには再度エントリーすることができません)。また、過去にMVPとグランドチャンピオンを受賞している場合もエントリーができません
• 入賞者のアップロードした動画は1年間は削除をしないこと
• 演奏は4弦または4コースウクレレが主体であること(ギターなどはNG)
• 演奏時間が4分を超えないこと
• 動画は編集無しであること
• 演奏はダビング無しで、ルーパーも使用禁止
• グループ演奏の場合、離れた場所にいる人とオンライン演奏(ZOOM等)は認められません。グループ演奏の際はソーシャルディスタンスを保ち、1つのカメラで録画してください
• 演目は自由選択: オリジナル曲／カバー曲は問わない。インストゥルメンタル曲／ボーカル曲も問わない
• YouTubeにアップロードされた動画にハッシュタグ #internationalukulelecontestを必ずつけてください
• グループ部門の条件は、参加者全員がウクレレを演奏していることに限ります
• エントリー動画で審査をし、受賞者を決定します

公式サイトの指定フォームより申し込みの上、演奏動画をYouTubeにアップ。
YouTubeにアップロードされた動画にハッシュタグ#internationalukulelecontestを必ずつけてください。
動画を審査し、受賞者を判断します。

※注意事項:

• 想定人数を大きく上回った場合は締め切りを早める可能性があります

ファイナリスト賞(全カテゴリー)：各カテゴリーの優勝者には副賞としてKanileʻa ʻUkulele (カニレア)から高級ウクレレが与えられます。2位と3位にも副賞を授与します。

最優秀賞(MVP)／各部門の最優秀賞受賞者より1組：ハレプナ ワイキキ バイ ハレクラニ3泊分のホテル宿泊券、ウクレレピクニック・イン・ハワイで、プロ参加ミュージシャンと同じステージに立って演奏することができます。

KZOOラジオ賞／オリジナル曲にて出場した最優秀者1組：優秀なオリジナルソングにはKZOO賞が与えられ、1年間その曲がハワイの日本語ラジオ放送局KZOOラジオ局で使用されます。

審査員特別賞・ハワイアンソング／部門入賞に関係なく全出場者から1組：部門入賞に関係なく全出場者でハワイアンソング(ハワイ語による歌唱が必須となります)を演奏した演者から1組、審査員の協議により審査員特別賞を授与いたします。
※審査員特別賞について：部門入賞に関係なく全出場者でハワイアンソング(ハワイ語による歌唱が必須となります)を演奏した演者から1組、審査員の協議により審査員特別賞を授与いたします。

ベストボーカル賞1組：ウクレレを弾きながら唄う総合能力を判断します。年齢問わないこの部門の最優秀者には副賞が与えられます。
